The COVID-19 pandemic has brought forth so many changes to our daily lives and many areas of our human existence. Workplace learning and training are among some of these changes and in order for organizations to maintain pre-pandemic momentum, they must consider these new demands. The impact COVID-19 has had on training in the workplace cannot be ignored, after all it has affected businesses worldwide for over a year. Every day that businesses are not willing to make modifications and take risks has proven to result in loss of business.

Acknowledging this will influence any decisions a surviving business needs to make as they advance in a fiercely competitive climate. One of the biggest priorities has become flexibility and creativity in employee development. The strong demand to shift the workplace training approach should not only be a method to get through the COVID-19 pandemic, but should be the way of our future. Let us take a look at what has changed in workplace training culture due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so we can continue moving towards success.

Location Restrictions

Due to the pandemic, social-distancing measures, stay-at-home orders, and restrictions on face-to-face gatherings have been put in place. Because of these constraints, employee training may be hindered. Fortunately, remote training, virtual classroom and other eLearning software practices are able to continue seamlessly, while ensuring the health and safety of your staff and the greater community.

Creative Thinking

As the pandemic unfolded, business leaders became motivated to modify their pre-pandemic training methods. With the new health and safety guidelines in place, screen time has increased and personal interaction has decreased, prompting leaders to create new ideas in keeping their employees engaged. Being aware of the changes that need to take place in educating employees and implementing those changes, helps to create a healthy workplace environment of professional growth and overall well-being.

Virtual Training Normalization

With a high number of employees working remotely, the COVID-19 pandemic has strengthened the normalization of virtual training. The need for online training programs has increased and is proving to enhance virtual learning like never before. The demand for in-person training may never fully go away, but from this moment in time, we must envision virtual learning as a way of the future.

Reinforced Teamwork and Community

Companies are focusing on creating online training resources with an increased level of quality content. Now that in-person meetings are very limited, company leaders need to focus on ensuring a workplace environment of inclusion, equity and diversity among our team. This will help maintain a healthy connectivity level and a sense of teamwork across the board.

The COVID-19 pandemic has altered the workplace in an unprecedented way. In order to stay resilient you may need to adapt your training programs. SkyPrep’s training environment can help you adapt your training programs to benefit both your employees and your company.
